Modern domestic animals live in an environment which is very different
from that of their predecessors. The changes in their lifestyle
have been gradual and subtle, but the effects, both direct and indirect,
of living closely alongside 20th century man have undoubtedly taken
their toll.
There is an increase in chronic health problems, both physical and
mental, among the dog population and, as with humans, many of these
have their roots in environmental changes. In addition, modern
intensive farming methods and the development of highly processed
pet foods have distanced our dogs from the nutritional benefits
of plant material previously obtained through the food chain.
Herbal supplements can be useful at all stages of a dog's life to
maintain a balance and support good health.
