We have a 30 year old gelding who has never cared for any sort of salt lick or loose salt and minerals. As soon as I hung the Himalayan salt lick in his stall he started licking away! He seems to really enjoy it.

I tried some very expensive loose salt and mineral combos and it did not seem to matter how hot it was. My horses (with one exception) were not consistently intrigued with them. When I put this piece of salt in my mares stall, I thought she would never stop licking it. Now, she is not obsessive about it, but she seems to enjoy it enough that I replace them regularly and my gelding likes his, too. I take them with me when I travel and hang them in the horse trailer and in their temporary quarters.
