I recommend this product for a cleanse in the Fall and Spring as this is the time of year that many herbalist recommend a detox to facilitate the body's ability to the change of season. As a licensed equine massage therapist in WA state I have found this product to be beneficial for horses that are recovering and are in treatment for founder because it can help detox the lymphatic system which is backed up due to excess cortisol (hormone made during stress which appears in the tissues and lymphatic system). As with all medical treatment/issues herbs should be discussed with your veterinarian before administering. Many of my horse clients tend to attempt founder in the Spring and Fall (beginning with cresty neck) which we balance out with diet, lymphatic drainage therapy and the Milk Thistle treatment. I also have used this product with my older mare who was diagnosed with chronic UVitis about 6 years ago. Again she tends to have the most problem with it in the Spring and Fall. I began giving her this remedy early in both seasons whether I see the symptoms arrising or not about 3 years ago and I have been able to completely nip the problem not to mention she tends to feel a little more frisky and her coat and eyes brighten up after the treatment. I liked its effects so much I began giving it to my older gelding as well so he could weather Winter well. I like this particular product for its quality (herbs are really fresh)and because its detoxing qualities are effective and appear fairly mild to their digestive system. I have recommended this particular product to many of my clients. Again I do recommend that if your horse is suffering from digestive problems, liver, kidney or lymphatic to work with your vet in administering so not to over tax any compromised systems. Herbs can be very powerful especially to an ill horse and a smaller dose or administration during a non-acute phase may be recommended in those cases...
